Don't live near enough a Pilates Studio for weekly sessions?
  • Consider travelling monthly for a private session and supplement with home workouts.
  • Even if there isn't a studio nearby -  there may be an experienced Instructor nearby.
  • If you've got quality apparatus at home the instructor may be keener to travel teach you!.
  • Better still - if you,ve got fellow Pilates enthusiasts who want a session on your apparatus just before or just after you - its more viable for the instructor to travel to you.
Already visit a Pilates studio?
  • Start doing some Classical matwork as well. It compliments the apparatus work really well.
  • Joseph Pilates himself expected his students to do the original matwork on the days in between visits to his studio.
  • Having your own apparatus at home enables you to practise implementing the cues given to you between taking Privates [1:1's] at the studio.
  • At PURIST we've found it good to do a solo workout in between Privates [1:1's with an Instructor in the Studio] to embed the subtleties learnt with the Instructor before the next studio visit.
Want to get fitter Pilates wise
  • Do matwork at home between studio visits. Have a look at the excellent US www.pilatesology.com site for workouts.
  • Consider a proper studio grade mat to protect your back and get a more effective workout using the straps.
Need to tighten your belt financially
  • Supplement your studio visits with matwork at home.
  • Get your own home equipment and find a great instructor who does home visits.
  • The instructor may be happy to train you for a price somewhere in between what they would earn in a studio and what you would pay a studio. Your equipment will pay for itself quite quickly and you've got it forever, wherever you may happen to live in the future!.
